Last week Saylor and I flew back to the Mother Land (Alberta) for Sarah's 30th Birthday. I dropped Saylor off with my family in Fort Assiniboine (I even took a picture of the Worlds Largest Wagon Wheel and Pick). Then I was off to Edmonton to pick up Ulla from the airport. Ulla and I were going to stay at Chris Schaible's place in the city (since we were supposed to be a surprise for Sarah on Saturday night). Chris gathered up his posse and we headed to the KEG. I'll make a long story short....Charles didn't get crabs, I got Jager bombed, we got free desert and it only cost the boys $600. After dinner we went dancing, I guess I'm not used to 2-stepping or whatever the Albertans call it now and I hurt myself...ended up going to the hospital which was conveniently just across the street from Chris' house. I got some advil and crutches and Ulla and I were off to Whitecourt.
Ulla and I were in charge of decorations for the evenings festivities, we went with a beach theme. They didn't really have anything for the jungle theme other than all the GIANT mosquitoes which were already provided!! Back at the Rennie's people were gathering anxiously awaiting the arrival of the birthday girl, our surprise efforts were thwarted by slow text messagers! Thankfully when the tarps were pulled down Sarah was still surprised, overwhelmed and happy to be 30!
It was a great adventure and I was glad to see some familiar faces!
